Guatemala Trip 2006 Itinerary Mayan Ruins

1. Nov 20–23; Antigua; Hotel Posada del Angel; Three days with no tours. Depart from Antiqua at 9:00am for Lake Atitlan (3hr. drive)

2. Nov 23-26; Lake Atitlan; Hotel Atitlan; Three days with no tours. Depart at 9:00 for day at Chichicastenang (1.5 hr drive). Stay 2 or 3 hrs. James 50th birthday.

3. Nov. 26; Chichicastenango; Depart around 1pm for Antigua. Stop at mayan ruin Iximche and continue on to Antiqua (3hr)

1*. Nov. 26-27; Antiqua/Rio Dulce; Meson Panza Verde; 8h00 depart for Rio Dulce on the Caribbean coast (5 hr drive approx.) Stop at Quirigua Ruins to see the largest Stele in the Mayan World. Boat transport to Banana Palms Hotel

4. Nov. 28-30; Rio Dulce; Hotel Banana Palms; 9:00 pick up from hotel for one hour cruise of Lake Izabal to Finca Paraiso (5 -7hr). Next day, pick 9:00 for Dulce Canyons, Canals & Livingston. 9:00 pick for private ground transfer to your hotel in Lake Peten Itza (3 hr drive).

5. Nov. 30–Dec. 3; Peten; La Lancha; arrive about 12:00 and lounge around. Next day, 9:00 departure for Tikal ruins with expert guide for an all afternoon guided tour, complete with lunch and return in the afternoon. Next day 9:00 departure for 6 hour tour of the archeological sites of Yaxha & Topoxte. Next day nothing planed but I want to watch the sun come up from a Tikel pyramid. We leave the hotel at 2:30 for our 4:30 flight back to Guatemala airport (1hr) and ground transport back to hotel (45).

1. Nov. 3–Nov.5; Antiqua; Meson Panza Verde; arrive back at our hotel at about 6:00. Enjoy dinner. Next day we just get our shit together and relax because we must leave early the next day. Our flight is at 9:30. Probably pick us up around 7:00.

* Antigua is our home port and we end up there three times.
